Holistic career counseling is a whole-person approach to helping individuals identify potential paths for college majors and careers. By incorporating not just academic and professional aspects but also individual interests, skills, personality, and values, holistic career counselors guide clients toward personally fulfilling futures.

According to the National Wellness Institute and Dr. Bill Hettler, regarded as the father of American wellness, there are Six Dimensions of Wellness: Emotional, Occupational, Physical, Social, Intellectual, and Spiritual. Holistic career counseling goes beyond determining an occupational plan infusing the five other Dimensions of Wellness to create harmony, and ultimately fulfillment. A career that satisfies only a fraction of a person's wellness needs is unlikely to result in optimal life satisfaction.
